THE HISTORY OF EUROLINES BELGIUM
Eurolines was formed 23 years ago in 1985 as a counterweight to Europabus, which was founded in 1965 by the European railway companies. Officially to propagate the development of the transport on the way, but in practice to keep the transport under control and to slow down the development.

The purpose of the creation of Eurolines was to stimulate the development of international lines and to create a network of regular international bus services.

The establishment was founded by several bus companies and at that moment ' The European Grey Hound' developed into 24 partners in 15 European countries.

The international road transport was mainly created on Spain and Portugal. For the simple reason that there was a very badly developed rail network by geographical circumstances and on the other side there was the migration from Spain and Portugal to several European countries among which also Belgium. Then arose historically ethnic or guest worker lines and that has gradually developed into the niche of a cheap product, with a reasonable travel time and a good comfort.

Today Eurolines Belgium is part of Veolia Transport, a French company which also include Eurolines France and Eurolines Netherland.

Eurolines has in the meantime developed into 35 partners in 32 countries. The brand name Eurolines groups 32 independent bus companies that put together the largest regulated coach service in the network. The network connects more than 500 destinations across the continent, including Morocco. Eurolines allows traveling from Sicily to Stockholm and from Casablanca to Moscow.
